Gulhane Institute of Health Sciences formerly Gulhane Military Medical Academy Institute of Health Sciences was established in 1984 with the GATA Law No. 2955. The Institute has provided academic training in the field of health sciences that are outside the scope of the Medical Specialization Regulation until 31 July 2016, carried out research and development activities, provided diagnosis and treatment services in dental health and diseases, has made analyses in the fields of pharmacy services, drug technology and toxicology, has produced policies for improvement of health services, has served training, treatment and production in the fields of chemistry, biology, radiation, nuclear medicine, aviation and space medicine. In the field of biomedical engineering, the institute continued the maintenance, repair, design and development works of medical devices, made medical design and production, executed scientific studies, research, production and coordination activities in the field of military medicine and health management. During this period, a total of 546 persons completed their master's and doctorate education. Institute was incorporated with University of Health Sciences and it is named Gulhane Institute of Health Sciences in July 2016.

 Gulhane Institute of Health Sciences aims to raise qualified individuals by increasing the quality of education in health sciences; to conduct postgraduate level and in-service trainings; to serve education, research, control and analysis in the field of pharmaceuticals and pharmacy services, pharmaceutical technology and toxicology; to prepare magistral products; to provide R&D studies; to generate national and international projects with ensuring their coordination and execution; to contribute to public health by producing policies for the improvement of health services.

 The goal of Gulhane Institute of Health Sciences is to be an original and effective institute known for the national and international trainings in health sciences, research and development studies, also with its qualified, self-improving education staff and personnel. Within the responsibility of Gulhane Institute of Health Sciences, education activities are carried out in 37 master's and 51 doctoral programs under 40 main departments of several academic units of University of Health Sciences.
