Gulhane Laboratory Animal Production and Research Center (LAPARC) works under the Gulhane Institute of Health Sciences. Gulhane LAPARC, provides consultancy services during the planning stages of experimental research and the necessary infrastructure and technical personnel support in experimental research. In addition, providing consultancy services in surgical field studies using experimental animals, provides appropriate infrastructure and technical support for courses, conferences, and seminars.

In our center, breeding, care, and feeding of more than 1500 experimental animals (rats, mice, guinea pigs, rabbits, sheep, and pigs) can be provided for scientific studies. There is no other center that can care, feed, and breeding pigs and sheep as experimental animals in its own center.

It is located on the 3rd and 4th floors of the institute building in approximately 1.000 (thousand) m2 closed area. There are many and specific experimental animal rooms (postoperative care room, quarantine room, examination and treatment room, breeding departments, puppies, young and adult rooms, etc.) in the center. In the backyard of the institute building, there are separate shelters and special sections for sheep and pigs, which are isolated from the outside. In the Surgical Research Unit, there are 2 modern surgical operation rooms for large animals (sheep, pigs) and 2 surgical operation rooms for small animals and necessary sterilization and preparation departments. In the center 2 veterinarians, 2 veterinary technicians, 1 health technician, 1 pet sitter, 2 VHKI staff, 3 cleaning staff effectively carry out scientific studies, courses, and educational activities that increase every year.
