University of Health Sciences (Turkey) is happy to announce you that; one of our research and development center MDMC’s (Gulhane Medical Design and Manufacturing Center), unique and great achievement is on all Turkish local news at 02.11.2020. Here are the details of the news;
The 70-year-old patient, who had problems for about 15 years due to hip calcification, had a prosthesis surgery 10 years ago, but after a certain period of time from surgery, the patient started to experience severe pain when moving and unable to walk due to the loosening of the hip prosthesis. For this reason, the doctors decided to make a revision surgery, but they could not perform this surgery, which would be a solution to the patient, because the standard prosthesis used previously was not suitable for this patient’s needs anymore.
After long researches, the patient found healing by applying to Prof. Dr. Cemil ERTÜRK who is an Orthopedics and Traumatology specialist working at Kanuni Sultan Suleyman Training and Research Hospital in Istanbul, Turkey. Thanks to Professor Doctor Cemil ERTÜRK, who closely follows the latest technologies, the patient regained health with the prosthesis which designed and manufactured completely at a local facility in Ankara, Turkey; Gulhane Medical Design and Manufacturing Center (MDMC) which is a research center of University of Health Sciences.
At MDMC, where you can see different types of 3D technologies gathered under one roof, implants designed on computers over patients’ data according to the patients’ need and doctors’ description. After the designs are approved by the doctors, medical implants that are manufactured personally by using 3D technology are sent to the doctors, who are working all around the Turkey, for their patients who are incurable with the standard implants or standard procedures.
