Program Qualification Level

According to Turkey Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TYYÇ), Undergraduate Program of Nursing is in the Basic Area of Health and its education level is at level 6. It is also level 1 according to the Qualification Framework for European Higher Education Area (QF-EHEA) and level 6 according to the European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning (EQF-LLL).

Objectives of the Program

Graduates of University of Health Sciences Gulhane Faculty of Nursing undergraduate education program;

EPA1. Our graduates are employed in national and international preventive, treatment and rehabilitative health and education institutions where healthy/sick individuals, families and society are served.

EPA 2. By adopting lifelong learning as a principle and using science and technology in the fields of nursing education and research; continue their academic, professional and personal development.

EPA 3. As an active member of the healthcare team, our graduates provide evidence-based and quality healthcare in line with professional standards and ethical principles, contribute to professional developments and changes, and work in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

Length and Process of the Program

Structure of the Training Program

Gülhane Faculty of Nursing undergraduate program is structured according to the “Classical Education Model”, one of the programs based on disciplinary structure. The education period consists of a total of four years (8 semesters), each year consisting of two semesters. In the first three years (6 semesters), courses are carried out as theoretical, laboratory and clinical/field practice. In the fourth year of the education program, an intern program is implemented. With the internship program, it is aimed to develop all the cognitive, affective and behavioral skills gained by the students in the first three years of the education program and to gain competence. In order to graduate from the program, 240 ECTS courses must be taken.

Application to the Program, Registrations and Admission by Transfer

Student enrollment for the program is based on the academic and legal regulations of the University of Health Sciences and the completion of the exams/process determined by Student Selection and Placement Center.

Framework is determined by taking  into consideration of the principles established by the Rectorate of the University of Health Sciences and related regulations issued by the Council of Higher Education (CHE).

Students are admitted to the faculty with the STEM score type of the Council of Higher Education (CHE).

Principles of student enrollment, education-training programs and transitions is available in “Undergraduate Programme and Exam Regulation of University of Health Sciences Gulhane Faculty of Nursing”.

Recognition of the previous formal (formal) learning at Turkish Higher Education Institutions is realized within the scope of “horizontal transfer, vertical transition, double major and minor programs” principles determined by the Council of Higher Education (CHE).

The course exemption can be requested for the same kind of courses that have been successful in any diploma program on the same level as previously continued. The relevant student applies to the directorate with a petition containing the name of the desired course and the original document with the approved grading and course contents within the first 10 (ten) working days from the date of the first registration of the student. Exemption requests are evaluated by the Higher Education Curriculum Commission and presented to the Board of Directors and the result is notified to student in writing within 15 (fifteen) working days.

An exemption exam is held at the beginning of each academic term for the English course which is included in the training plans of the programs. Students who think that they provide the expected qualifications are entitled to take the exams made. Students who enter and succeed in the examination are exempted from the relevant courses in the course schedule.

Job and Academic Career Opportunities for Graduates

Graduates of the University of Health Sciences Gulhane Faculty of Nursing receive the title "Nurse" and have the qualifications to fulfill all the duties and responsibilities defined by the nursing law and they can be employed in different fields.

·         Graduates may serve as "clinical nurse", "clinical responsible nurse", "education nurse" or "manager nurse" in any public or private sector institutions and organizations that provide preventive, curative and rehabilitative health services.

·         Graduates may serve as school health nurse, occupational health nurses, home health nurse,  community mental health nurse.

·         They may apply to relevant postgraduate programs and may be members of academic staff at universities.

·         They may serve in decision making positions and planning areas such as the Ministry of Health, Health Directorates.

·         They may work in areas such as Research Centers and Pharmaceutical Industries.
