About The Faculty

History/Background

Somalia Mogadishu Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Faculty of Health Sciences started education in Mogadishu with the Departments of Nursing, Midwifery, Emergency Aid and Disaster Management, Health Management on 04.09.2020. Somali Campus consists of our school building, education research hospital, mosque, lodging and social areas on a land of 63 decares. Education language is Turkish. Our school consists of 40 classrooms, laboratories and study offices. In addition, students can continue their departments if they are successful in Turkish preparatory education.

To train qualified professionals who adopt interdisciplinary cooperation and teamwork, who can use scientific methods and technology in order to improve the health and quality of life of the society, who can conduct original research, and have sufficient professional knowledge and skills.

To be a respected and leading faculty recognized and followed in Somalia and Africa region and preferred by students in the first place in its field.

Somalia Mogadishu Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Faculty of Health Sciences, which started to serve you in the 2020-2021 academic year. To be a student and member of the University of Health Sciences which is the largest university for health in the world and Turkey, we would like to state that this excitement and happiness is combined with justified pride. The greatest aim of our faculty is to train our students as a researcher, productive professional professional who has a sense of responsibility towards society in their academic or working lives, and who has a shared, continuous learning principle.

Program Qualification Level

Midwifery Undergraduate Program; Higher Education Qualifications Framework to Turkey (TYYÇ) by education level is level 6 is located in the Basic Health Area.In addition, it is at the 1st level according to the "European Higher Education Area Qualifications Framework (QF-EHEA) and 6th level according to the" European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning "(EQF-LLL).

Objectives of the Program

The purpose of midwifery department is to train professional midwives who have the knowledge, skills and attitude to serve in every field required by the profession, adopts the philosophy of midwifery and ethical values, sensitive to women and their problems, adopt scientific problem-solving systematic and lifelong learning. In addition, it is aimed that our graduates will be midwives who make a difference in every field in which they work with professional knowledge and skills, human values and scientific approach

Length and Process of the Program

Education period is 8 semesters. A minimum of 240 ECTS credits must be obtained on condition that there are 30 ECTS in each academic year.  Successful completion of all courses and having a grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 are required for graduation.

Job and Academic Career Opportunities for Graduates

Graduates of midwifery department can work in related to midwifery profession all departments of public, private and university hospitals and in institutions where primary health services (family health centers, community health centers, health houses etc.) are carried out. At the same time, graduates can continue to graduate programs and become academicians.
