About The Faculty

The Physiotherapy department of Gulhane Faculty of Health Science began offering a Bachelor of Physiotherapy program in 2018. The department became The Gulhane Faculty of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation in 2021. The faculty aims to train physiotherapists who know professional rights and responsibilities, adopt modern practices and follow lifelong learning principles, are productive, unique, moral, and leaders in their field. Our students are trained to take on roles in management of chronic diseases, acute care, health promotion and other specific areas in physiotherapy. Our training program is based on National Core Education Program Criteria and systems implemented by leading schools in rehabilitation teaching and research.

Our university has a strong history, with a focus on health fields for over a century. Our faculty members are specialized and experienced in their field. The Physiotherapy department staff includes two professor, six assistant professors and three lecturers. In the undergraduate program, practical interactive education is prioritized, and a wide range of application areas are provided. The faculty of medicine teaches the fundamental courses. A specific curriculum is provided for the physiotherapy department using cadavers and models, in practical and simulation laboratories. The university offers great opportunities to complete internships at Health Research and Application Centers in many cities across Turkey.

This is a four-year full-time program and the education language is Turkish. Students can gain a place in our program via the Undergraduate Placement Examination (LYS) conducted by the Department of Student Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM).

The Bachelor of Physiotherapy prepares graduates for a career in a variety of healthcare settings. Graduates can work in public/private or university hospitals, rehabilitation centres, sports clubs, industrial facilities, public health units, home care centres, schools for people with disabilities, care homes, thermal hotels, municipalities and primary health care services. Graduates may also continue along an academic pathway undertaking postgraduate studies in Turkey or abroad.

Program Qualification Level

The Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation program is the 6th level of National Qualifications Framework for Higher Education in Turkey (NQF-HETR). Also, it is the first level of Overarching Framework for Qualifications of the European Higher Education Area (QF-EHEA), and 6th level of European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning (EQF-LLL)

Length and Process of the Program

The duration of education is 8 semesters.

During the undergraduate program, at least 240 ECTS credits is required, provided that 30 ECTS in one academic year. Successful completion of all courses and have at least 2.00 out of 4.00 grade point average is a qualification requirement for graduation.
