What Is the Mevlâna Exchange Program?

The Mevlâna Exchange Program is a program that enables the exchange of students and academic staff between higher education institutions providing education domestically and higher education institutions providing education abroad. With the Regulation published in the Official Gazette No. 28034 dated August 23, 2011, the way was paved for student and academic staff exchange between higher education institutions abroad and higher education institutions in our country.

Unlike other exchange programs, without any geographical region distinction, the mobility within the exchange program encompasses higher education institutions all around the world.

Students wishing to participate in the exchange program may benefit from the program for a minimum of one and a maximum of two semesters of education; academic staff may benefit from the program for a minimum of 1 week and a maximum of 3 months to give lectures at higher education institutions around the world. Similarly, students and academic staff from all regions of the world may also come to higher education institutions in Türkiye.

Who May Participate in the Mevlâna Exchange Program?

Within the scope of the Mevlâna Exchange Program, associate degree, bachelor's degree, master's degree, and doctoral students enrolled in formal education programs at all higher education institutions in Türkiye (at higher education institutions that have signed the Mevlâna Exchange Program Protocol) may participate in the student exchange.

In addition, all academic staff serving at domestic and international higher education institutions that have signed the Mevlâna Exchange Program Protocol may also participate in the Mevlâna Exchange Program.

The academic activities of academic staff within the scope of mobility cannot be less than a total of six hours per week. The calculation of the activities carried out by the academic staff in hours is based on lectures. In the event that the lecture hours do not total six hours per week, academic activities such as seminars, panels, or conferences are also evaluated within this scope. Academic staff mobility plans that do not include teaching activities cannot be evaluated within the scope of the Mevlâna Exchange Program and cannot be accepted for the exchange.
