About The Faculty

Kayseri Faculty of Medicine was created on May 1, 2021, and began medical training with 62 students during the 2021-2022 academic year. Students in their first, second and third years of medical education will continue their studies at Erciyes University, an established university in Kayseri. In grades 4, 5, and 6, they will do medical and clinical training courses at the Kayseri Research and Training Hospital, affiliated with the University of Health Sciences.

As Kayseri Faculty of Medicine, contributing to the world of medicine by producing world-class knowledge, training scientifically equipped, investigative and solution-oriented physicians by providing high-level medical education, contributing to the improvement of the society's quality of life, and providing management open to communication with the participation of stakeholders such as students, educators, and employees. Our main goals are to train physicians to provide effective and quality health services according to national/international standards, based on the needs of the public.

With each new student and lecturer joining us, we will continue to produce science with the same dynamism and smiling face every year and work for our students to receive the best medical education.

Program Qualification Level

Faculty of Medicine Undergraduate Program; According to the Turkey Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TYYÇ), it is in the Basic Field of Health, and its education level is at the 7th level. In addition, it is level 2 according to the "European Higher Education Area Qualifications Framework (QF-EHEA) and level 7 according to the "European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning" (EQF-LLL).

Objectives of the Program

The primary purpose of Health Sciences University Kayseri Medical Faculty is; Having sufficient knowledge and skills in the field of medicine, following national and international scientific and technological developments closely and using them effectively, adapting to innovations, having the awareness of lifelong learning and evidence-based decision making, investigative, questioning and critical thinking in professional and academic fields, Being able to do the profession of medicine at the level of health institutions and organizations, have practical communication skills, attach importance to teamwork, solve the problems encountered for the first time, produce appropriate solutions by having a good knowledge of national and universal health problems, manage to establish a connection between medical science and the health needs of the society, is to train physicians who are understanding and responsible for their profession, working for the purpose of serving the country and humanity, and adopting all universal ethical principles towards their patients.

Students who successfully complete all theoretical and practical courses, clinical applications and exams graduate with a Master's Degree and receive the title of Medical Doctor.

Length and Process of the Program

Education is organized in a competence/output-oriented and fully integrated manner at Kayseri Medical Faculty of University of Health Sciences. In the first three years of education based on course boards, the first two years are mainly focused on normal structure and functions of systems, and the introduction to pathologies and clinical sciences, and system pathologies are discussed in the last board of the second year and in the third year. Internship training of the students who have grasped the basic medical knowledge with their clinical connections in the first three years are conducted in

the 4th and 5th years. The sixth year is on an internship basis, which allows students to practice under supervision. In addition, students are offered elective courses they may prefer. For graduation, it is necessary to successfully complete the courses in the 6-year education program of the medical faculty with a total of 360 ECTS.

Job and Academic Career Opportunities for Graduates

Medical faculty graduates can be employed as general practitioners with the title of Medical Doctor mainly in family health centers and community health centers in primary health care under the compulsory service law, in the units of the Ministry of Health and public and private health institutions after compulsory service. Those who pass the Specialty Examination in Medicine start their specialist training in university hospitals or training and research hospitals belonging to the Ministry of Health and then acquire the title of Specialist Doctor. In addition, graduates who have the diploma of Medical Doctor can apply to Ph.D.’ programs in the Basic Medical Sciences Departments within the Institutes of Health Sciences of the universities. Upon successful completion of their studies, they graduate with the title of Doctor of Philosophy in Medical Sciences. Then they can be employed as lecturers in related departments of universities and they can take part in academic staff.
